TIMELINE OF EVENTS

SPRING IN 2,701 (Mar, Apr, May)

MARCH - Takes advantage of the Monarch Audience and gains a means of shard concealment (thanks to Clarke saving Unseelie shards in battle, both their shards are concealed full time). He and Clarke take on a quest from Waver. When the snow rolls in, he does his best to help unfreeze things.
APRIL - Bellamy continues sword and magic training and decides he really hates harps.
MAY - Starts off the month with Beltane. He takes his first trip into Seelie territory later, checking out Caer Glaem and the area around it. Starts looking into the Cult of the Fox via Seelies. Kills some swans because fuck swans.

SUMMER IN 2,701 (Jun, Jul, Aug)

JUNE - Attends the tourney in Treun! Makes a second trip into seelie territory, this time centering on the Cothromach. Befriends some people with connections to the Cult of the Fox, begins the process of sending them undercover.
JULY - Third tip into Glaschu, where following the Cult of the Fox leads him to Daonna just in time to witness the hangings. When he returns to the third spire, he and Clarke get a decapitated surprise and become a targets of the Cult of the Fox.
AUGUST - Let's avoid sneaking around this month, ok? Ok! Works on more magic training, attends some festivals, and follows Clarke to the 8th and 9th Spires to help set up the spire clinics.

FALL IN 2,701 (Sept, Oct, Nov)

SEPTEMBER - Fourth trip into Glaschu, Parrais. Wreath Festival! Starts learning Blood Magic from Clarke and they adopt a dog (which he names Rhea Silvia).
OCTOBER - Bellamy goes to Redgate midmonth, attends the opening of its theatre. Samhain: Bellamy and Clarke make offerings to the Black Shuck, and he manages to actually Dance and Have fun during the following festivities.
NOVEMBER - As a former delinquent, the prison break is of course Very Scary. Continues with magic and combat training.

WINTER IN 2,701/2,702 (Dec, Jan, Feb)

DECEMBER - Yule! the Hare Hunt!
JANUARY - Stuff and things!!! Another trip into Glaschu, checking on Caer Glaem before hitting up the Cothromach again.
FEBRUARY - Ostara Festival in Parrais. Visits the art gallery with Clarke. At the end of the month, falls asleep and canon updates, gaining memories of infiltrating Mount Weather and joining up with Maya inside.

SPRING IN 2,702 (Mar, Apr)

MARCH - Nearly gets killed in Parrais by the Cult via broken balcony. Zombies must die aka takes out some of the undead.
APRIL - Agrees to be bait for the Cult of the Fox in hopes of luring in members to capture for the Red Hand.
MAY - ¿ we just don't know ?

[Waver won't let it out of the house - hell, he's physically chamred it so it can't be moved, but.-

The actual primary sources are pretty easy to find online as long as you know the titles. The translations can be a bit wonky - I'm not going to get into copyright law - but they are mostly there and you can get access to them at the Station.

[There's a pause, mostly because getting that sort of offer is still new enough to catch him off guard.] Yeah. I mean, yeah, that works.

I know the titles. Most of them at least. From the sound of it, I could find the rest easily anyway. [Despite how careless the words might seem, Bellamy's actually pretty excited by all this, and there's a more open sense of curiosity in his face than the stubborn grump he usually is.] We hit up the Station often enough. Should be fine.

[A beat, before he continues.] Gotta say, I'm pretty glad all this stuff exists somewhere, even if it's gone at home. [Even if that somewhere is a magical fairy world.]

[Waver pauses, looking over to the bookshelves, trying to remember where he's put it. The location found, he returns his attention back to Bellamy.]

It's funny. Clarke and I had more or less the same discussion about preservation when she stopped by to visit during Yule.

She mentioned that. Not surprising. Our world's pretty much gone to shit. I'd kinda given up on the sources ever existing again.

Well, surprise? [Waver grins, and leans back.] For all the good it'll do to know it here, I suppose. Niche knowledge, given no one's going to care about Plutarch's lives if they're a native.

Doesn't mean it shouldn't be accessible, if people want it. Some of the natives get curious about other worlds. [Like Lauralae, for one.]

Doesn't mean it can't be useful either. If we're still getting Roman history a century after the Earth's destroyed, something's gotta be worth learning.

Fair enough and agreed upon learning for the sake of learning. But then with the wealth of resources, where do you even want to narrow your focus? Philosophy? Politics?

[What a good question. His options have always been more... limited; he's taken what's there for lack of choice. It takes him a few moments to answer Waver, feeling weirdly open in talking about this sort of thing beyond just in passing.]

Politics. Military and strategy. [A beat.] Mythology.

I can write up a recommendations list then, in that order. I'm also including Plato's Republic on the list, for the sake of it.

I know some of them. We had lists. My mother made sure my sister and I knew as much as we could, even with the limited original texts.

[A beat.] But yeah, that works.

[The closest Waver will get to a 'thank you.]

Think you can put to use any of the politics here?

Depends on what kind you wanna apply. Not sure the monarchs'd be all too pleased with a senate. [Or a republic in general.]

Oh good God, I'd pay an alarming amount of money to see their reaction.

They'd probably like the Augustus version. [You know. The useless one.]

Only if they got to choose the Augustus.

Of course if you had a republic, you'd have to answer a lot of questions about how to run it.

Open elections for everyone. [That's... his priority, which shouldn't be a surprise. The longer someone talks to him, the easier it is to figure out Bellamy's no fan of hierarchies.]

Though if you brought one here, we'd have to factor in Seelie and Unseelie, unless it's all under one.

Seelie and Unseelie consuls. Ideally, non-shardbearers, given the tendency of shardbearers to overshadow natives and have too much say in what happens. How do you decide who's a part of the electorate?

Consuls. Yeah, that'd work. [One voice from each side, if each side still has to exist.]

Everyone. Everyone who wants a say in the vote. Shardbearers, shardless, natives, rich or poor. Limiting it just means the governing house gets corrupt like the Senate ended up anyway if they're not held accountable.

True enough, but then you have to find a way to ensure every single village in the entire Drabwurld can vote, and ensure the safety of those votes from being meddled with. That'd be a tall order.

It's worth it to avoid an oligarchy. Then you just have people at the top with too many secrets. [Speaking from experience?? Yes.] If the monarchs can send out letters calling for boons, there's gotta be magic to insure votes.

[Waver laughs at the people at the top with too many secrets. Bellamy must know the irony too.]

I'll give you that. Then that'd be a matter of finding how that magic works and putting it into place.

[He makes a face. Yeah, he gets that.]

There's infinite magic possibilities here, apparently, I doubt it's the hardest task in the world. [He is surprisingly optimistic for a cynic.] If it gives people a chance for a voice, it shouldn't be hard to get them involved either.

I think that given how well the current system of government is going, you wouldn't struggle to pull that off either.

If people wanna be and stay in charge, earning loyalty is better than forcing it.

[Having been on both ends of that spectrum, he can say that more easily.] The latter is necessary sometimes, but you have to prove it in the end too.
