- APRIL - Bellamy continues sword and magic training and decides he really hates harps.
- MAY - Starts off the month with Beltane. He takes his first trip into Seelie territory later, checking out Caer Glaem and the area around it. Starts looking into the Cult of the Fox via Seelies. Kills some swans because fuck swans.
|
SUMMER IN 2,701 (Jun, Jul, Aug) |
- JUNE - Attends the tourney in Treun! Makes a second trip into seelie territory, this time centering on the Cothromach. Befriends some people with connections to the Cult of the Fox, begins the process of sending them undercover.

( throughout march )
[Even if the monarchs hadn’t made their declaration about trying to melt and unfreeze it, Bellamy thinks he’d have helped anyway. It gives him a chance to work a little, practice a little, with his knife. He’s already figured out it can shoot off fire, so he starts with that.]
[It starts out with the knife flickering, covered in flames. It’s not that it fails, but it’s time consuming, waiting for it to melt the snow. He wonders about altering it, after a few more uncovered imps, he focuses on making the knife warmer moreso than the flames. The blade heats up as the flames die down, but it cuts through the ice and snow a lot faster, allows him to break through and give the people stuck inside air. One woman practically throws herself at him, promising him her firstborn child, but Bellamy just awkwardly gives her a blanket to stay warm and urges her to get inside.]
[When he’s not doing that, he’s trying to get imps to work with him. Completing the quest last month for Ariadne has helped him along those lines – they’re more inclined to actually listen to what he has to say than brush him off (or dump him out of a bag).]
[He manages to get out of giving them any sort of monetary bribe as payment. It helps that he’d used his knife to cut through ice that had encased two imps at once, and watching the way he did so without provocation pushed some of the other imps towards cooperation.]
[He’s trailed by two or three at most; Bellamy starts by building fires, and the imps use their magic to expand it, melting people and imps alike that have been buried. They only offer their help so long as Bellamy does the same in return, and honestly, the whole process goes a lot better in their joint effort.]
[At the base of one particularly large pile of snow and ice, Bellamy starts building several fires. He uses his knife to expedite the process, and the imps draw out the flames to make the fires bigger, even hitting some of it with thin lines of fire. But the ice is thick enough that the effort is going to take some time, and the fires require care to stay lit for long. So he settles in, starts on a fourth fire and prepares himself to continue on this trend of very cold days.]

even after going to see Lord El-Melloi II and returning to the Third Spire, there's no real pause between helping the locals and researching for their quest. she's back outside to continue assisting when she comes across Bellamy, and she tries so very hard not to start laughing when one of the residents promises him her first born. and while she succeeds in keeping it together at first, it's almost impossible to keep a lid on it as the day goes on, especially when both of them manage to get some down time from actively trying to thaw out the village.
after setting up another fire in one of the streets to keep the cold away from those that are still outside (despite her urging to keep themselves bundled up indoors), she ventures to one of the stalls offering out warm drinks to those that help thaw the city, seeking out Bellamy where he's stationed himself. with various fires burning near him that he'll undoubtedly need to keep stoking for them to melt away the ice and snow that's gathered, she settles in next to him, offering out one of the mugs in her hands. )
Here. They call it hot cocoa, but it's nothing like what we had on the Ark. ( by which she implies it's way better. )

Too much fairy dust? [He takes a sip anyway, and it's hot enough to burn the top of his tongue. He scowls for a moment, then reaches down to throw a few more sticks into the pit, just in case. The fire's enough to have melted away the snow around it, a flash of grass at their feet against blinding white, but he doesn't want it to die either. At least not while he's still out here.]

( there were very few luxuries on the Ark, including things like hot chocolate. they'd have to melt down bitter bars with water, which wasn't exactly ideal. so this? much nicer, though Clarke's not sure she'll drink the whole cup -- she can only hazard a guess it's made with something heavier like milk.
the weather is also vastly different from anything they've had to deal with; both on the Ark and the ground. Clarke keeps an eye out for any Imps that manage to thaw out so she can grab them for help before they take off elsewhere, or for locals that unfreeze so she can walk them through how to avoid hypothermia. at least for now, it's mostly a waiting game with the thicker ice.
which means Clarke gets back to a more pressing matter, of course. )
So. First born child. Looks like you won't need to worry about finding an heir.
( why yes, Clarke is trying to do her best to not laugh. )
no subject
[Bellamy almost chokes his sip right back up when she speaks up again, scowling at her as she nearly laughs. Of course she had to overhear it. Of course.] Didn't even realize I was on the hunt for one. [Shut up Clarke.]
no subject
she does her best to not laugh outwardly at his reaction, instead turning to stoke one of the fires, lips pursed when she realizes how slow the ice is melting. she can only hope that their state of dress and constant movement allows her and Bellamy to stay thawed.
her attention to the slowly melting resident doesn't keep her from continuing to poke at the joke. )
Aren't most kings?
no subject
[Dryly:] Some of them prefer acquiring land mass.
[Translation: Clarke I swear to god.]
no subject
while Bellamy works on the fire, she actually hurries over to where a resident of the Spire is finding their feet begin to freeze to the sidewalk. cup in hand, she crouches down to pour the drink to melt the growing ice. )
You should get inside, okay? Stay warm! The Baroness will have spare supplies in the Spire if you need them.
( tossing the cup in the nearby trash bin, Clarke returns to Bellamy, starting to help him with the next round of fires. )
Land mass won't be any good if there's no one to inherit it.
( there is no way she is dropping it that easily. )
no subject
[He glances up when Clarke uses her hot chocolate to melt, snorting a little in his own amusement. But hey, it worked, so he's not going to judge.]
You do know heirs can be declared and not born, right? [Bellamy pauses for a moment, then holds out his cup, silently offering her a sip.]
no subject
a dangerous thing you've started, Bellamy. )
Sure, but you've now been offered one. Who else would you leave things here to?
no subject
Not like we have much to leave. [Wait no. No 'we' in this context.] What if I just decided to leave it all to you?
[There. Clearly she won't notice the first part now! Don't mind him as he ignores her face entirely and strokes the fire again too.]
no subject
expression softening, she finally lets it go, even if it was fun to annoy him. instead, she moves to a fire near his that's dimming, using the same magic from the Guild she had learned to strengthen it back up again. )
That wouldn't work, I'd be gone, too.
( and she says it so matter-of-fact-ly, as though there's no room for debate or argument. as though one can't be there without the other, and there's no real thinking otherwise, at least not for Clarke. )
no subject
[He turns to that, heating up the blade of his knife again to cut through the ice and speed up the melting process. The imp's head comes free along with its hands, and between the two of them, it escapes the ice. In repayment, it uses its magic to boost most of the fires around them.]
Someone's gotta be willing. [Finally, he says something, though it's weak and halfhearted, because as much as he knows he and Clarke are a team at this point, acknowledging it out loud like this is still taking an adjustment.]
no subject
You saying that is going to loop us right back around to the heir conversation.
( there's a hint of a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips, but she otherwise doesn't continue on that. instead, she jogs over to where a resident looks freshly melted, shrugging off one of her many layered jackets to drape it over his shoulders, pointing out the spire and giving the same directions she had before. )
I'm going to grab more supplies from Ariadne's place. Meet you the next block over?
no subject
Keep yourself melted. Maybe carry around an extra cup of hot chocolate. [He looks both amused and impressed, though his tone is largely the former, and his agreement is sewn into the words.]
no subject
( Clarke ensures that he sees her roll her eyes with as much exaggeration as possible before she heads off for the spire, even if she does stop far too often to help along her way there. )
