[Wow it's almost like knowing who Baymax was is a thread he has in common with Grell!! Bellamy should really considering mentioning that but HAHA.]
She really gave you the backdrop, huh? Yeah, we were both Unseelie. I wasn't the biggest fan of the whole court set-up, but I met people like Grell, so at least it has that going for it.
No, that didn't happen. Everyone was either a native or pulled in from their own world. There was some magic that could explain some of the whole multi-dimensional hopping, but it wasn't common so much as an end-of-the-world-everything-is-going-haywire break. The explanation is a little too long for a text.
[Honestly, he's just as interested in talking about this, in maybe figuring out how and why it happens. But it means being more open with Hiro, so, you know - he'll get there.]
She gave me what I wanted to know, mostly, but there's still a lot I don't understand about that place. At least the two of you have each other here. That's more than some people.
[...well. Bellamy, if you didn't think he wasn't going to take that as bait you are sorely mistaken, friend.]
...I mean, I have time for the explanation in person if you do? I'm just working on a couple of things at the shop today.
I lived there for two years and there's still a lot I didn't understand.
[shIT YOU'RE RIGHT HE DID NOT THINK THAT THROUGH. His responding texts are a little more delayed than they were before.]
What kind of shop?
[In this text: push off the question of meetup for just a little longer. He know it's inevitable but - well, even a few extra hours before more heartbreak seems okay in his book.]
Tech shop. I play with robots all day. [Along with other things…anti-CERES things, but he's not stupid enough to say so.] I know you're probably not used to tech because of that fairy world but it's really not that bad.
[What are you talking about, this is normal, everything is fine.]
I spent most of my life on a space station so I'm a little more up to speed on tech than Grell is.
Where is it?
[It's still not an answer, but the idea might be getting more and more tempting, because despite everything, having Hiro dangling in front of him like this is too hard to avoid forever.]
[This is absolutely how well-adjusted people function.]
...that...is really cool. I wanna hear about that too. [Please tell him about the space station Bellamy. Terrorize him with stories about the ark (again.)
But there's a text soon with directions to the main tech and auto shop in the shopping district.]
Not too far. It's pretty centralized and it's usually busy with a bunch of the mechanics coming in and out. I spend most of my time here when I'm not working other places or on other projects or patrolling the colony.
[I already told you, is his first silent thought.]
It's not as glamorous as you're imagining.
[and then he GET THE TEXT shIT. There's no avoiding it after this. He briefly wonders if it'd be possible to just keep it to the basics, to keep it to figuring out the dimension hopping, but he knows himself better than that. It'll spill in the right circumstances.]
[Besides. The fact of the matter is he just misses Hiro, even if this isn't his own Hiro.]
I can probably come by sometime. Just - preferably without any others around. Except Baymax, if you'd rather not be alone.
[Bellamy can probably imagine the look on his face, that large grin he uses to try and charm people into giving him what he wants. But it's a good thing this is text because that grin fades and he's left staring at his device. That's a strange request.]
Baymax is usually with me...and I have my own workspace that I can kick people out of. Not good with people? [At least he's not thinking that Bellamy might be a potential murderer. That'd be silly...ha..ha..ha...]
[So yes. Yes it can and he finds it amusing all the same. He can also understand a need for privacy however and he finds himself nodding even if Bellamy can't see it.]
...would you feel better if you brought Grell, too? I think she might be into seeing all of the stuff I'm building anyway.
[He is not particularly looking forward to explaining the Ark again to Hiro, even if he thinks it'll go quicker. He's already done in once, in some capacity.]
It's up to her. Our situation is pretty similar. We should coordinate sometime but - maybe just us, first.
[Look he loves Grell a lot but he's not interested in whatever potential Emotions are going to be happening being too public ok??]
Sure dude, that's fine. Like I said I'm usually here so...you can pretty much come by whenever you want. I know you're kinda doing ME a favor by explaining this multiverse fairy world courts thing but I can buy lunch or something too if you're into that.
[It's weird. It's weird that he's genuinely excited to learn more about this and see Bellamy face to face. Normally he's not this comfortable around strangers...but it could have to do with the fact that Bellamy's well-versed in something he's wondered about. Thus...he goes to get burgers. He goes to get food for both of them and arrives back at the shop ten minutes later (thank you, mobile ordering) and he's sitting on his workbench with his legs kicking through the air idly and sipping soda through a straw as he waits.
There's a lot of questions. He's not even sure what to ask first.]
[He is exactly 3.5 minutes late, half because Hiro told him not to be, half because Rhea whined at him when he tried to leave. He thought about bringing the dog but decided it was more suited for later, after Bellamy was able to gauge the situation better. Can't have Rhea being heartbroken too!]
[But he finds the shop pretty quickly, having already been in the area and teleporting closer. Since it's a shop, he figures there's no point to knocking, so Bellamy just walks in before he decides he can turn around and go back home instead. He braces himself, before calling out, his voice already guarded.]
[He looks up at the sound of his name, not at all surprised that he didn't actually hear Bellamy approach. He'd been a bit lost in thought as he waited, trying to figure out everything thus far. Pushing the straw away with his tongue he sets the drink down and grins at him.]
Hey. I'd say I'm glad you found it but I'd be a little more worried if you didn't. [And then he remembers how Bellamy had responded initially and he pauses.] You can come in and shut the door if you want. It's just me and Baymax. [Baymax, who's currently on the floor opposite of Hiro's workbench and hooked up to a computer but gives Bellamy a wave anyway.]
[He takes a quick glance around the whole place, and all of it still feels very much like Hiro. He's not sure anymore this was the best idea.]
It's almost like I know how to read. [But you know what, okay, sure, fall back onto the easy conversations. Despite how familiar it feels, it worries him too. Hiro is smart, there's no way it'll go totally unnoticed.]
[He shuts the door behind him and looks over at Baymax, still highkey interested in the robot after all he'd heard, especially after years in a fairy world lacking technology; he just says hello back instead.] Hey.
[It won't go unnoticed at all, but he's polite enough to leave it alone at least until Bellamy settles in with his food. The robot's busy watching Bellamy closely, scanning him as programmed to do as Hiro blinks in surprise and nudges the bag closer to the older man.]
Burgers and fries. Don't say I never did anything nice for you. [It's a test to see how far he can push him, mostly.] Do I have to get up and hand-deliver it to you too?
[He walks over slowly to join Hiro at the bench for the food, sitting down with a decent amount of distance between them - nothing that's overtly obvious, but substantial anyway.]
[His brows furrow for a second over that - don't say I never did anything nice for you - because wow he can easily think of so many nice things Hiro has done for him. Instead he just grabs the burger and takes a bite.] I'll start a list.
[You know. Of the nice things, that totally do not already exist.]
Maybe all this was just yours. Wouldn't judge you for eating too much.
[It's not exactly weird that Bellamy's keeping his distance, but it's confusing all the same. He watches carefully as he chews on a fry before a derisive snort escapes.]
Yeah right. I'm pretty sure I actually have to eat whatever's being cooked at our apartment tonight and I seriously don't want a lecture on the importance of a proper diet. [He narrows his eyes at Baymax briefly, but it's entirely playful.] Besides, I promised you burgers. I don't go back on promises.
[...which of course is another thing Bellamy already knows about him that he's unaware Bellamy knows. This is going to be strange when he finds out but for now he's still studying him.]
You and Grell are really from the same multiverse?
[He is 100% aware of that, good job reminding him of the situation by reminding him things he already knows about you Hiro!! It just adds to Bellamy's careful, calculated distance despite the familiarity deep in his bones.] Anything's better than rations, so please, just eat to your heart's content. [He's lying, he is 100% going to jump back on the make sure Hiro is eating well cabal as soon as it's not weird.]
[Bellamy avoids the studying going on by taking another bite from his burger. Food will be an excellent diversion.]
Yeah, we are. She was there longer than me, a year before I was pulled in, I think? But we're definitely not from the same worlds originally.
