Hello. Don't know if you remember, but we met once, during the silver sickness outbreak. [A beat, and Simon looks more downcast than he did then, shoulders slumped slightly, his words softer than before.] I spent a lot of time at the Station recently-- still there, actually, and I saw you a few times, going to or from the Midach's office.
I was wondering if you knew anything about any of the shopkeepers here? Which ones are more friendly towards shardbearers, what court they're with, or not with, things like that. Even if it's just rumours. [Better to have some information than none.]
[He squints a little, then nods in recognition.] Simon, yeah?
[He's sitting outside somewhere, looking tanned and sweaty from some kind of workout, and the exhaustion ensemble is completed by dark circles under his eyes. Despite how tired he looks, Bellamy is alert.] I don't spend too much time in the Station itself. But I do know some of the natives that live there. Haven't spoken to many that care for either court, but it's not really surprising, considering the Station's pretty neutral territory.
There's a woman named Breda, she sells a lot of un-Drabwurld like clothes. She's pretty friendly towards Shardbearers.
[He nods, it's nice to be remembered, considering all the people Bellamy probably sees every day. He has to wonder about the tiredness, though, but it's probably from training. Everyone was training.]
It is, like a different world, makes me wonder how many of them spend much time outside it. [He hadn't, when he lived there for most of the month, except a few times.] Breda. Thank you, I'll talk to her, too.
[There is no hesitation in his next words; he's lied before, he knows how to do it. He doesn't know if Bellamy is with the Red Hand or not, certainly doesn't want to say anything about it over the locket system regardless. Who knew who could be listening?] Mostly curiosity, I want to see which side of the war they'd come down on if they were ever forced to choose, it'd be good to know who our friends are.
[Bellamy remembers people. For all he's gruff and not always outwardly friendly, he's good at reading them and playing to their strengths.]
Natives seem to have more of that whole neutral option. Without shards in their chests, they're more valuable to the courts as cannon fodder. [A beat.] Not to see shardbearers aren't their own kind of fodder either.
Most of them don't like us much at the moment anyway. Stay away from Daonna and the surrounding areas. It's a hotbed of anti-shardbearer activity. The station at least they're tolerant of us. The fairies like our tech. You'd have to talk to individuals, if you wanted to know what side of the war they'd prefer; it's a mix there. [Speaking Seelie vs Unseelie levels to the war, at least.]
